Four Year Under Graduate Programme (FYUGP) - Electronics and Photonics (Minor)

M.Tech Electronics & Communication (Optoelectronics & Optical Communication)

With the advent of lasers and other optical sources and their use in different fields has increased in various regimes such as optical communication, medicine, engineering, defence and industrial applications. Optical communication plays a vital role in today’s communication technology. This intellectually challenging subject underpins the core technologies of the 21st century, and can route to many different career paths. The programme of M.Tech in Electronics and Communication (Optoelectronics and Optical communication) is well structured in order to meet the demand of both industry and research Duration:- 2 years (4 semesters under Credit and Semester System) Eligibility/Qualification:- Second class B.E/B.Tech or equivalent degree with 55% marks in Electronics/Electrical and Electronics/Electronics and Communication Engineering, Applied Electronics and Instrumentation or M.Sc. Degree in Physics/Applied Physics/Electronics Science or Electronics of the University of Kerala or equivalent. Seats:- Number of Seats (as approved by AICTE) -18 (Open seats:10; Seats for SC/ST:3; Sponsored Quota:5) Out of the 5 seats reserved under sponsored quota, 2seats are reserved for candidates sponsored by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. <<Syllabus>>

M.Sc. Electronics with specialization in Optoelectronics

MSc. Electronics with specialization in Optoelectronics forms the formal training of Electronics and hence the program aims at providing an in-depth knowledge of Electronics and Optoelectronics to the student. After the successful completion of the program, a student should be capable of pursuing research in theoretical/ experimental or related areas. The program also aims at enhancing the employability of the student. Rigorous training requires phased teaching. With this intention credit and semester system is followed in this program. An M.Sc. student should be capable of doing research at least in the preliminary way. To accomplish this, a research-oriented project is made as part of the curriculum. Duration:- 2 years Eligibility/Qualification:- Bachelor’s degree in Physics/Electronics/Photonics with an aggregate minimum of 50%marksin optional subjects or 2.0 CGPA (s) out of 4.0 or 5.0 CCPA(s) out of 10.0 subject to the usual concessions allowed for backward classes and other communities as specified from time to time. M.Sc. Electronics with specialization in Artificial Intelligence forms the formal training of Electronics and hence the program aims at providing an in-depth knowledge of Electronics and Artificial Intelligence to the student. Ph.D. Program

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme in Optoelectronics shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned Eligibility:- U.G.C-C.S.I.R - JRF/NET/ GATE OR Entrance test conducted by the Dept. of Optoelectronics, University of Kerala OR Entrance test conducted by the Dept. of Physics/ Nanoscience and Nanotechnology/Computer Science, University of Kerala OR Entrance test conducted by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology in Electronics with a post-graduation in any of the following subjects- (i) M.Sc.: Photonics, Optoelectronics, Biophotonics, Nanophotonics, Electronics, Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, (ii) M.Tech: Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Communication (Optoelectronics and Optical communication), Optoelectronics and Optical communication, Photonics, Optoelectronics, Electronics (All branches like- Signal Processing, Communication, Instrumentation, Robotics, Microelectronics, MEMS), Electrical and Electronics, Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Computer Science (Signal Processing, Image processing, Machine learning), Biomedical Engineering, Laser Technology, Applied Optics, Solid State Technology, Material Engineering (iii) M.
